About the band
The Crumpsall Concert Band is an amateur wind band based in North Manchester with members’ age range spanning from teenager to 90+. We rehearse at St Matthew’s Parish Hall, Cleveland Road, Crumpsall, on a Wednesday evening between 7pm and 9pm if you want to come along.
Formed in 1993 originally as a dual marching / concert band, this year we are celebrating our 25th anniversary culminating in a gala anniversary concert on 24th November.
We concentrate on serving the local community with a calendar of concert performances, playing at nursing homes, garden fêtes, churches and many of North Manchester’s parks. Where space permits, we are happy to consider private functions. Please email the band at: email@example.com for more details as required or for general information.
Our repertoire includes popular music, light classical works, church and festive music, tunes from musicals and films, easy jazz – and the odd march!
Looking ahead, founder member and current Musical Director Kathryn Burke sadly leaves us after 6 years at the helm and we are delighted to welcome Rosie Kingham to take the reins as we start a new chapter in our history from January 2019.
The Crumpsall Concert Band will continue to try to fulfill the needs of local instrumentalists, mainly brass and reeds, by enabling them to play together. Some of our players are late comers to music having first taken up the hobby in adulthood, while others have rediscovered their love of playing after many years of absence from this most social of hobbies. Regardless of ability and experience, all players are encouraged to enjoy music making and achieve their maximum potential.
Crumpsall Concert Band is self supporting and the conductors are all volunteers.
We also have some very interesting voluntary positions available for players and/or their non-playing friends or partners alike.
