When: Thursday, 25th August 2011- Tuesday 30th August 2011
Where: We will stay in a Youth Hostel* in Bremerhaven, Germany
Who: Crumpsall Concert Band with support from the Adamson Military Band
Why: We would like to encourage members of the band to get to know each other better, have some fun, push our musical boundaries and do something different to what we normally do.
Together with two bands in Germany: Blasorchester Wulsdorf* and Bremervorder Stadtkapelle* we would like to perform a concert in the style of the Last Night of the Proms. We will expect at least 1000 people to come to this event. (Germans are mad about wind bands!) We will exchange music and ideas with the other 3 bands and will have extensive rehearsals for this big concert. The two German bandleaders are planning a visit to rehearse with us in early spring. Don't worry, their band set ups are similar to ours in regards of age groups and abilities!
How do we get there: We will hire a coach and take the overnight ferry from Hull to Belgium. This means we will only need to spend a total of 4 hours in the coach.
